Here in Southwest Florida, your family can be in Orlando in just a few short hours. This is perfect for taking advantage of some great specials and events in Central Florida. I recently had the opportunity to visit the Gaylord Palms Resort to experience their annual Summer event called SUMMERFEST. The surfing, rock n roll themed event is fun for the entire family and one of the most entertaining Florida staycations you may find this Summer.

5 reasons to visit Gaylord Palms for SUMMERFEST

1. Paint the Waves Party at the GlowRider
On Friday nights as the sun goes down, the party take a colorful turn. It was fun to watch the Cypress Springs pool transform into a psychedelic, multicolored water playground. Cowabunga Chris keeps the party going with popular tunes, and don’t miss painting the waves on the one-of-a-kind GlowRider.

2. Pajama Party Under the Sea
On Friday and Saturday nights after you dry off and put on your PJ’s, you can extend the fun with a night of giggles, games and dancing Under the Sea! There is even a story time and a bedtime snack.

3. Rock 'n' Surf Scavenger Hunt
Similar to during the holiday times, there is a themed scavenger hunt throughout the atrium. You can rock your way around the beautiful atrium, searching for eight custom surfboards. It was fun to take a pic at each one and share it on social media with #RocknSurf #GaylordPalms

4. Rockstar Screentime
Rise and Shine with some fun early-morning cartoons on the big pool screen or relax in the evening with a popular movie. You are given the schedule of showings at check-in.

5. Sing-a-long Show Time
Every one can rock out with Gaylord Palms very own Pop Princess and Rock Super Star. You get to sing, dance, and play along to some of your favorite Pop and Rock hits on the Cypress Spring Stage!

In addition to these cool activities, there are fun things taking place throughout the resort all day each week. As part of Summerfest package you get some special additions like a free refillable tumbler to use at the restaurants throughout your stay. This event runs until August 13th, so you still have plenty of time to book a fun and memorable staycation! For more information visit,
