Frontier Airlines to Expand Service From Fort Myers to Six New Nonstop Destinations

Aug 18, 2017 01:54PM ● Published by Kevin

The Lee County Port Authority recently announced it will be a part of Frontier Airlines’ expansion announcement, which means nonstop service from Southwest Florida International
Airport (RSW) has been added to six new nonstop destinations:

  • Buffalo (BUF) – Starting Dec. 10, 2017
  • Colorado Springs (COS) – Starting Oct. 5, 2017
  • Islip (ISP) – Starting Oct. 5, 2017
  • Kansas City (MCI) – Starting Dec. 10, 2017
  • Nashville (BNA) – Starting Oct. 6, 2017
  • Providence (PVD) – Starting Oct. 6, 2017
The network expansion adds 21 new cities, which will increase the number of destinations served by the low-fare carrier by 30 percent and double the number of total routes, according to a press release by the airline.

"By next spring, Frontier will offer low fares to 90 percent of the U.S. population, which is expected to bring more than $1 billion dollars in savings to consumers through lower airfares. To celebrate the announcement, Frontier is offering limited time fares from $39," the release said.

About the Lee County Port Authority

The Lee County Port Authority was first established by Special Act of the Florida Legislature on May 10, 1963, Chapter 63-1541, Laws of Florida. The Special Act became effective on Nov. 6, 1963 upon ratification by the electors of Lee County at a special election held for that purpose.

On Aug. 11, 1987, the Lee County Board of County Commissioners implemented the provisions of Chapter 63-1541 by adopting Lee County Resolution No. 87-8-9, creating the Lee County Port Authority as a body corporate to operate the two County airports, Page Field and Southwest Florida International Airport (then known as Southwest Florida Regional Airport). The Resolution was subsequently adopted as an ordinance, to be known as the Lee County Port Authority Ordinance, Lee County Ordinance No. 90-02, later repealed and replaced by Lee County Ordinance No. 01-14
The Lee County Port Authority operates as a dependent special district of Lee County, Florida under the authority of Chapter 63-1541, Laws of Florida, Lee County Ordinance No. 01-14 and Chapters 125 and 332, Florida Statutes.
