A Sizzling Good Time At Ruth’s Chris

When it comes to elegant, sophisticated dining, it’s hard to beat Ruth's Chris Steak House in the Coconut Point Mall in Estero. And renovations during 2019 have made it even more appealing. It still has that steakhouse vibe but with a chic, Florida feel; lighter, with blues and grays. “It feels good. We are really pleased with how it looks,” notes Ruth’s Chris general manager Aleks Kunov.
The bar is cozy, the dining room as well, with several private areas that can accommodate large parties and events, and includes a beautiful new Wine Room with floor-to-ceiling wine walls. While it adds to the dining experience, aesthetics are not the main reason people drive from all over Southwest Florida to visit Ruth’s Chris: It’s the premier service and quality food, specifically the succulent steaks that arrive sizzling on a 500-degree plate.
Cuts of USDA prime beef range from a 4-ounce petite filet mignon to a whopping 40-ounce tomahawk bone-in ribeye and almost everything in between. Although they are seasoned to perfection, guests have the option of adding a bleu cheese and roasted garlic crust.
Beef may be the star of the show, but seafood sees its share of the spotlight at Ruth’s Chris—with Ōra King salmon and thick Chilean sea bass in a coconut citrus butter, served over sweet potato and pineapple hash. “The stuffed chicken is the best chicken I’ve ever had,” Kunov says. In a lemon butter sauce, it is stuffed with garlic-herb cheese.
Sides are à la carte, with classics such as creamed spinach and rave-worthy potatoes au gratin. One of the most popular is lobster mac-n-cheese, according to Kunov, who says, “It’s huge; big enough for a main course.”
A great steak deserves a great bottle of wine and Ruth’s Chris has 238 to choose from. Twenty are by the glass. More than 60 selections of bourbon, whiskey and single malt scotch are available whether you’re in the dining room or the bar—which hosts one of the best happy hours in the area.
The discounts on food, wine, beer and cocktails is impressive and includes some of the menu’s more in-demand items, such as Ruth’s prime cheeseburger and the raspberry cosmo. Happy hour is also observed on Ruth’s new covered patio and it can be reserved for holiday gatherings.
The service is impeccable and friendly any time of the year, but there’s something about the holiday season that feels extra special and inviting at Ruth’s Chris.
