For the past six years, the North Fort Myers Civic Association has run its NFM SANTA toy drive to support families in need of the Suncoast Estates area. Donations from the community helped Santa and his elves deliver one toy to each child ages 18 and under at the event held on Dec. 19, 2020.

"We are so proud of our entire community coming together and making Christmas for those in need," the organization posted from its page on Facebook. "You are giving them the best gift of all to believe and have faith in Christmas."

This was a special year for the event, as it added Palmona Park as a stop along Santa's route.

"My children received a couple toys today in Palmona Park from y’all," a user added on Facebook. "Thank you so much, it made them SO happy. This year has been rough for everyone and it was so cool to get to have some happiness come through the neighborhood."

Cruise-in toy drives were held to collect toys on Nov. 23 and 30, as well as Dec. 7 and 14. On Dec. 12, an additional event was held to collect more toys and spread holiday cheer. Trophies were awarded for best Christmas-themed jeep, while families enjoyed food trucks, Christmas music, raffles, and more.

According to WINK News, event organizer Jennifer Scott said if donations continue to multiply, the organization will hope to add more neighborhoods to Santa's route next year.
