Jewish Federation of Greater Naples held its groundbreaking for the Nina Iser Jewish Cultural Center on November 19 with nearly 200 donors and beneficiaries present.
The celebration took place on the site of the new cultural center property, which is adjacent to Temple Shalom in North Naples. The hour-long event featured violin music, gifts and acknowledgment for donors, prayers from local rabbis, and the ceremonial shoveling of dirt to signal the beginning of the new center.
With generous donations from 500 families, the center has been able to raise $12.5 million of its $15 million goal. About $10.5 million will be used to build and furnish the new center, while a $4.5 million endowment has been granted to help offset the increased operational expenses.
The Nina Iser Jewish Cultural Center will be a 20,000 square foot property enhancing the lives of the Jewish community in Greater Naples. It will help support educational, social, leisure, recreational, and philanthropic programs within the community and will serve all ages, from young children to seniors.
Construction will continue through 2022 and the grand opening of the Nina Iser Jewish Cultural Center is expected to be in January 2023.
